When Motherhood becomes
a drag…
Taylor and I have poured hours and hours into interviews with some incredible mama influencers this month in preparation for the 2020 Courageous Mama Summit.
It’s been one of the coolest experiences I’ve had.
There have been quite a few late nights since we live on the other side of the world… but it’s been worth it!
After my conversation yesterday with the amazing Shelley Jefson from Faithful Parenting it got me thinking.
Sometimes motherhood can become a bit of a drag.
If we want to look for complaints, there are a whole host of them:
– whining and bad attitudes (from both kids and mama)
#1 – Find something that refreshes you
Today as I was working on something and blasted some crazy loud dance music in my ears. And I remembered… I LOVE THIS! I love loud music. And I felt immediately refreshed.
Expert Mama Tip: Listen to loud music and dance like nobody is watching.
#2 – Are the kids helping you out?
Even my four year old is putting his own dishes in the dishwasher and wiping down cabinets. Those things (though done imperfectly) are integrating your kids into real life. (Listen to Ep. 26 About Integrating Our Children).
#3 – Take a short cut!
Sarah Morrison from the Super Bond Method and I were talking about this on our 2020 Courageous Summit Interview.
If you’re feeling really tired today, throw some fries and chicken strips in the oven… or order a pizza.
As much as I love whole food and real food eating, sometimes it’s okay to take a short cut if it means there is MORE OF YOU for your family.
Don’t burn yourself out trying to make delicious quinoa and kale topped off with a green smoothie… Your family sometimes needs mama with the capacity to stop and just cuddle with, or look at the clouds together with.
You can nourish your family in other ways besides quinoa and kale.
God is more concerned with your HEART than anything else.
What a week. I don’t know what next week will look like. I’m hoping for more peace, and less of a swollen arm.
